Cloudflare WARP, or 1.1.1.1 has been around for quite a while. 1.1.1.1 is Cloudflare's free public DNS, but WARP is a VPN aimed at making network requests private from our ISP and hackers. WARP+ is a faster version of warp which has more servers and chooses better internet routes to avoid internet traffic jams. However, WARP+ is paid.
What was the referral program?
The referral program allowed its users to invite their friends to use Cloudflare WARP and then get 1GB of WARP+ data per invite. It was an extremely useful feature, but Cloudflare was forced to remove it. Although you can still refer your friends, you won't get any free WARP+ data for it.
Ways to get WARP+
There are several methods to get WARP+, with or without spending money.
You can purchase a monthly subscription for unlimited data from the WARP app on Android or iOS.
Other ways to get it for free were:
- Refer your friends to download it
- Use a script to fake signups from your referral link and get free GBs
- Use a script or telegram bots to get WARP+ keys with over 20 petabytes of data.
How do the scripts give so much data?
These scripts connect with the Cloudflare API to generate fake accounts with (technically)unlimited data in them. These scripts or telegram bots contacted Cloudflare's API and asked it for keys, but when Cloudflare found out their APIs were being abused, especially with people setting up bots to generate many keys, they increased the API security a few months before shutting the referral program.
Why was the referral program removed?
The referral program was removed because many people abused it, as stated above. Nobody paid for WARP+ and it costs a lot of money to run these servers, so Cloudflare had to shut it down.
On 1 November 2024, the referral program was officially shut down. All the "unlimited" data keys generated before also stopped giving any WARP+ data. The only way to get WARP+ now is to pay for it.
